The summer of 2009 found Bruce working on his first public art project, doing Monterey Bay sealife on eight traffic signal boxes in Capitola, CA. This was a contest open to the community of local artists, and he went all out to win it. After taking photos of each of the boxes, images culled from various sources were photoshopped onto them so the final effect could be assessed. Working outdoors with motorists looking over his shoulder every minute was quite a change from the usual solitary studio work! Many shout-outs and encouraging visits were given by passing motorists. Thanks to everyone for your support! The completed boxes were painted with anti-graffiti clear coat. We soon found out it works... Thanks to a local tagger for testing the protection!

I placed my goofy Moray Eel in his garden hideaway with strawberry anemones and urchins nearby. By special request, the notorious stolen Tiki from Capitola was included. Now we know where it is!
One of my all-time favorite subjects... soaring over unbroken sandy stretches.
The magnificent, flamboyant Garibaldi, diminutive monarch of the kelp forest! Also, the State Marine Fish of California.
A leggy starfish meanders, unaware of the Sea God Humpback gliding by above. By special request, characters from one of the best all-time animated movies: Finding Nemo... OMG! It's Darla!
